Admission & selectivity
International applicants
~15–25% (est.)Sichuan University does not publish an acceptance rate for international applicants. Overseas undergraduate applicants are admitted on a materials-based review (high-school transcripts, diploma, personal statement and language certificates); for the English-taught MBBS (Clinical Medicine) program a CSCA score report covering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is required, applicants need roughly 70%+ senior-high-school marks and must be aged 18-25.
Chinese-taught programs require HSK; English-taught programs require an English proficiency certificate.
Domestic (mainland) students
Top ~2–4% provincial (est.)Admission for mainland students is by gaokao score ranking within each province, not by a published acceptance rate; no such rate is released. Sichuan University is a Double First-Class and former Project 985/211 institution and is among the most selective in China, typically requiring scores in roughly the top ~1-2% of test-takers in each province.
Language of instruction
Most undergraduate degrees are Chinese-taught, but Sichuan University offers several full English-taught bachelor programs through its Overseas Students Office, including the English-medium MBBS (West China School of Medicine), Dental Surgery, plus programs such as Civil/Software Engineering, International Business Management and Tourism Management; English-taught programs require IELTS/TOEFL.

How admission works
Chinese-taught undergraduate programs require HSK 5 ≥180. English-taught programs have separate language requirements. SCU requires applicants to hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) with good academic standing.
Medical programs (West China) have higher tuition due to clinical training.
