Admission & selectivity

International applicants

~15–30% (est.)

Fudan does not publish an international acceptance rate. Admission for international (foreign-passport) undergraduates is materials-based document review. Required materials include passport, high-school diploma with official transcripts (or a pre-graduation statement), and two teacher recommendation letters.

Chinese-taught programs require HSK 4-6 (level and minimum score vary by major). English-taught undergraduate programs (MBBS and the Undergraduate International Program in Economics, UIPE) require no HSK but require good English proficiency.

Domestic (mainland) students

Top ~0.2–0.4% provincial (est.)

Domestic mainland undergraduate admission is via the gaokao; no acceptance rate is published. Fudan is a top-tier C9 university, admitting only students in roughly the top fraction of a percent of gaokao takers per province, with annual provincial score/ranking cut-offs near the very top of each province.

Language of instruction

Chinese-taught programs English-taught degrees

Most undergraduate degrees are Chinese-taught, but Fudan offers several full English-taught bachelor degrees to international students including International Organizations and Global Governance, an Economics program (UIPE), Global Bachelor of Fintech, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and the MBBS in medicine; these require TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS 6.5.

These figures are for international undergraduateadmission. Master’s and PhD requirements, funding and deadlines differ, see the official site (graduate programs are often more English-taught and better funded).

How admission works

International undergraduate admission at Fudan is handled by the International Students Office (ISO); applicants apply through the official ISO portal. Chinese-taught programmes require HSK 5 (score >210).

The admissions page body is partially image-rendered, limiting text extraction; exact 2026 tuition requires downloading the official Excel fee table linked from the ISO page.

Frequently asked

How do I apply?

Most Chinese universities take applications through their own international admissions portal. Open the official website below to see the current steps, required documents and deadlines, then start your file with us and we will guide you through it.

What does it cost?

Tuition, housing and living costs vary by program and city. Where we have a figure confirmed from the official site, it is shown above, otherwise it is marked to verify. Always confirm the current amount on the official site before you budget.

Is it a reach for me?

Admission depends on your grades, your Chinese or English level and the specific program. We can look at your profile together and suggest a realistic list, this university included, rather than guessing.
