English-taught programs require IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 85, Duolingo 110 or equivalent; some programs also involve an entrance assessment. Chinese-taught (and the Zhuhai Chinese-Russian bilingual) programs require HSK Level 5.

Domestic (mainland) students
Top ~1–2% provincial (est.)Admission for mainland students is by gaokao score ranking within each province; no acceptance rate is published. As a former Project 985 / Project 211 'Double First-Class' university and a top defense/engineering institution, BIT is highly selective, typically requiring scores in roughly the top ~1% of test-takers in each province.
