China's flagship national scholarship for international students, supporting undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and non-degree study at over 279 designated Chinese universities. Offered through multiple sub-programs including the Bilateral Program (via home-country embassies), the Chinese University Program (applied directly to host universities), the Silk Road Program (for BRI-country applicants), the Great Wall Program (UNESCO), the WMO Program, the EU Program, the PIF Program, and other special programs.

- Coverage
Full scholarship covers: (1) Tuition fees, fully waived; (2) Accommodation, free on-campus dormitory or an accommodation allowance; (3) Monthly living stipend, undergraduate/Chinese language students: CNY 2,500/month; master's students and general scholars: CNY 3,000/month; doctoral students and senior scholars: CNY 3,500/month (figures sourced from CSU official page republishing CSC Bilateral Program terms, reflecting the post-2014 MoE adjustment); (4) Comprehensive medical insurance for international students.
Partial scholarship covers only parts of the above. The Silk Road Program, Great Wall Program, WMO Program, and EU Program follow the same full-scholarship structure but have specific eligibility and quota arrangements.
- Eligibility
Non-Chinese citizens in good health. Age at enrollment: undergraduate ≤25, master's ≤35, doctoral ≤40, general scholar ≤45, senior scholar ≤50. Academic background requirements vary by study level.
Bilateral Program candidates must apply through dispatching authorities in their home country. Chinese University Program candidates apply directly to designated host universities.
All applicants must not concurrently hold another Chinese government-funded scholarship.

Varies by sub-program and home country; Bilateral Program applications typically January–April each year; Chinese University Program deadlines set by each host university, typically February–April. Admission results announced around late July.
