International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship
国际中文教师奖学金
National scholarship for international students and in-service Chinese language teachers wishing to study Chinese language education and related fields at designated Chinese universities. Formerly known as the Confucius Institute Scholarship (孔子学院奖学金) before the 2020 restructuring of Hanban into CLEC. Supports one-semester and one-year non-degree research students (研修生), as well as undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degree students at approximately 236 host institutions.

- Coverage
For one-year research students (一学年研修生) and one-semester research students (一学期研修生): covers tuition, on-campus accommodation (double room), living allowance of CNY 2,500/month, and comprehensive medical insurance (CNY 800/person/year for one-year students; CNY 400/person/year for one-semester students).
Degree program (undergraduate, master's, doctoral) stipend amounts are set at the same tiers as the CSC scholarship (CNY 2,500/3,000/3,500 per month) per host-university guidelines, but these amounts are stated at the host-university level, not directly on a single central CLEC page.

- Eligibility
Non-Chinese citizens aged 16–35 as of September 1 of the enrollment year; in-service Chinese language teachers may be up to 45 years old. Applicants must be nominated/recommended by an eligible recommending institution (Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language departments at foreign universities, Chinese embassies/consulates, etc.).
Undergraduate applicants generally must not exceed 25. HSK requirements vary by program track (HSK 3 minimum for one-semester research students; HSK 3 with higher scores preferred for one-year students).
