Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS)
北京市政府外国留学生奖学金
Scholarship established by the Beijing Municipal Government to support outstanding international students pursuing study or research at higher education institutions and research institutes in Beijing. Structured into three categories (A, B, C) with decreasing levels of coverage. Category A is the most comprehensive; Category C covers tuition and medical insurance only.
Details
Administered by Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
- Coverage
Category A: covers tuition fees (full waiver), accommodation fees (on-campus free or off-campus allowance paid monthly or quarterly), living expenses (monthly stipend disbursed by host institution), and comprehensive medical insurance premiums.
Category B: covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, and comprehensive medical insurance, does NOT include a living stipend.
Category C: covers tuition fees and comprehensive medical insurance only, no accommodation or living stipend. The specific CNY monthly stipend amounts for Category A living expenses are NOT stated in the official January 2026 application procedures document on english.beijing.gov.cn; they are disbursed by host institutions according to 'applicable standards' without a single published figure in that document.
The PKU official page describes Category A as including a 'living stipend' without stating the amount. Amounts are therefore set to null.
